March 31st, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Tips

Howdy,

I was just e-mailing back and forth with my buddy Tom Venuto and he gave me a link to a video and said that I “had to watch this!”

Tom is a champion bodybuilder and fat loss expert so I thought I would check it out.

Turns out the video features our buddy Adam Waters from Real Time Physique and poor Adam gets a heck of a Quad workout from Tom’s little torture device known as the Quad Blaster!

Interval Training For Accelerated Fat Loss – What It Is, Who Can Do It, And How To Do It For Maximal Fat Loss…
By Kyle Battis and Craig Ballantyne

March 30th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning · Fat Burning Workouts · Fat Loss Training

Interval Training, also known as HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is a very popular method to help increase fat loss and Men’s Health Contributor Craig Ballantyne uses it as part of his Turbulence Training fat loss program. In this mini-interview with fat loss expert Craig Ballantyne he reveals what interval training is, who can do it, and how to do it properly for maximal fat loss.

Kyle Battis: This is Kyle Battis with Fat Loss Lunch Break.com and once again I am joined by Craig Ballantyne, fat loss and fitness expert and author of Turbulence Training. Craig is going to be talking about something that is very popular right now and that is interval training. What is interval training, how can you do it, and who can do it? Craig, fill us in and give us some answers on those who, what, when, and where’s about interval training for fat loss.

Craig Ballantyne: That’s a good point you make that it’s really becoming quite popular these days and I was using it way back in the late ‘90s when I was just getting involved in the industry and what I was doing was using it with athletes and you don’t have to be an athlete to do interval training.

A beginner can do interval training because all interval training means is that you’re going to do (blank part of tape) for interval and then you’re going to bring the exercise intensity down to lower than normal intensity, recovery intensity for a very short period as well. I like to use this example, a beginner who regularly walks on a treadmill at say 3.5 miles per hour, they would do their interval training at a short, hard interval of maybe 30 to 60 seconds at 3.8 miles per hour and then they’d drop all the way down to 3.0 miles per hour for a minute recovery.

THE GREAT ABS MISTAKE “He Was Doing One Thousand Crunches And Sit Ups A Day… But Still NO Abs!!!

March 28th, 2008

By Tom Venuto, NSCA-CPT, CSCS

After 18 years in the fitness business, “How do I get great abs” is still BY FAR the most frequently asked question I receive out of the 30,000+ emails that come into my office every month. No doubt, it’s because abs are the one body part that most people are the most frustrated with. Although their questions are often phrased differently and each person’s situation seems unique, my answer to “how do I get great abs” is almost always the same… and you’re about to hear it…

“1,000 Sit-Ups And Crunches A Day and Still No Abs!”

One question I received recently REALLY got my attention because a young guy told me he was doing 1,000 crunches and sit ups a day and said he still couldn’t see his abdominals. He wrote:

“Tom: I have been working out for around a year now and I cannot get my lower abs into any type of shape. I’m starting to see my upper abs a little bit, which is great, but despite doing 900 various crunches, ab roller, and 100 sit-ups four days a week, along with my regular workout on the weights, I still have a tire around my waist. What else can I do?”

Walking for a Good Cause - CareNet Walk For Life 2008

March 24th, 2008

This message has very little to do with fat loss, except for the fact that thousands of people will be burning fat together for an excellent cause. But we would like to ask for your help in supporting a ministry for women in need.

On May 10, 2008, The New Hampshire CareNet Pregnancy Center will be hosting a “Love in Action” walk for life. The walk will be 2 miles long in the cities of Manchester and Nashua, NH - starting in Veterans’ Memorial Park and Greeley Park respectively.

This walk will be used to raise money for the CareNet Pregnancy Center ministry which helps to support women by sharing information on abortion, adoption, and parenting. Their goal is to inform new mothers of all the options available so that they can make an informed decision. This ministry relies solely on donations to continue working - they do not charge anything for their services which includes personal consultations, pregnancy tests, and ultrasound tests among other things. If you would like to sponsor my wife, Renee, and I, for our 2-mile walk please send an e-mail to carenetwalk@gmail.com with the following information:

First and Last name
Mailing address
Donation amount - example $10, 20, 30, 50, 100, other ________

All donations will be accepted, there is no amount too little!

Once we walk on May 10 - we will turn in our sponsors sign-up form and CareNet will contact you for your donation.

*Note: you will not be asked to pay until after the walk on May 10. If you would like to pre-pay, please mention this in your e-mail to carenetwalk@gmail.com and I will give you further instructions.

On another note, if you live in the area and would like to walk with our “team” you are more than welcome to come out and meet us.

Please help us support such a needy cause. Thank you.

Sincerely,

John Sifferman NSCA-CPT

The BEST Day of Your Life Results: empowering activity to help you with your fat burning goals

March 21st, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning · Fat Burning Mindset · Fat Burning Motivation · Fat Loss Tips

It’s been a couple days since my day-long quest of achieving all my daily goals, which you can read about here. I want to share with you what I learned so that you too can achieve your fat burning goals one day at a time.

To begin, I have tried many, many times before to make drastic changes in my daily habits – things like reading more, spending more time with family, and playing less video games (if it’s not TV, it’s something else!). It has always been within me to commit to bettering myself - it’s inborn. I can’t tell you how many times I have actively tried to make changes and failed drastically. Over and over again I toiled to try and do something right, yet I was met with resistance and almost always folded under pressure - seldom achieving my goals.

There is a universal principle that I have noticed about changing habits and reaching goals. We must expect the resistance that will come with every new decision - everything we do anew will require us to press through this resistance, this membrane, that must be broken and left behind. This is the only way to progress and it works every time.

Here is my hourly journal for my “perfect day” activity. These are just cliff notes to keep it short and simple:

March 19th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Nutrition · Fat Loss Tips

Howdy friend,

I was thumbing through some research and came across a study by the American Dietetic Association reported the following Lunch time stats for Americans:

-> Seventy-seven percent of the U.S. population reported consuming lunch.

-> Lunch provided 31% of their total energy intake, and 34% of their total fat intake.

-> The most popular foods consumed at lunch for both adult men and women were sandwiches, including hamburgers, followed by salads, and meat dishes.

Self Image Secrets To Boost Fat Loss

March 17th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning Mindset · Fat Burning Motivation · Podcasts

Hey There,

Recently I got on the phone with by buddy Jim Katsoulis and we talked about a veru important topic: The Self Image.

The mindset it the most commonly overlooked aspect of burning fat and turning your body into a leaner version of you.

As Jim states in this interview, you have to start ‘being’ a leaner person, start ‘doing’ what a leaner person would do, start ‘thinking’ what a leaner person would think, and if you do that you’ll start to actually become a leaner person.

This exclusive fat burning audio interview is a “Must-Hear!” You can download it or listen to it in streaming audio format.

The BEST Day of Your Life: lifestyle strategy for achieving your fat loss goals

March 17th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning · Fat Burning Mindset · Fat Burning Motivation · Fat Loss Tips

I’ll get right to the point on this post - I have a challenge for you today. If you want to achieve your fat loss goals, then you better take me up on it because this will be an opportunity to learn and grow. I know what you’re thinking, “I don’t want to learn and grow, I want to burn fat!” Trust me, this one activity could mean the difference between enjoying your leaner dream body or not.

Everyone has a dream lifestyle. I was once asked by my friend, Kyle Battis, what my perfect “average” day would be like. I told him that it would start early in the morning so I could watch the sunrise while exercising, and in my mind, I still know what kind of day I would like to have everyday if I could choose.

In thinking about it today, it would include time spent reading literature (perhaps poetry), learning how to improve my business, helping other people somewhere and somehow, spending quality time with my wife and family, getting adequate exercise, spending time in prayer, enjoying the outdoors, making the most of my hours spent working (high efficiency and productivity), and time spent relaxing. It sounds like a lot to fit into one day, but I think I can do it with the right mindset and a little planning.

So, tomorrow, I am going strive towards having a perfect day – a day that is optimized for not only my athletic goals, but for all of my lifestyle goals. Granted, this is probably impossible since there are so many unexpected things that CAN happen to put a wrench in my progress. Regardless, my goal will be to do everything in my power to push towards achieving my goal, if only for one day – even if something comes up to put a stop to my progress.

Here is my idea of a perfect day and what I want to accomplish tomorrow, Tuesday, March 18, 2008:

Which Shoes Are Best For Fat Burning Runs, Walks and Training?

March 13th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning · Fat Burning Workouts · Fat Loss Tips · Fat Loss Training · fat burning equipment · fat loss equipment

When looking for footwear, I always suggest finding a pair of shoes that allows for the most freedom of motion - mobility. You don’t want shoes that limit how far your feet can move when you’re burning fat.

Too many times, shoes are made with extra “heel cushioning,” “arch support,” or “ankle support.” While all of these options sound like great ideas (and are for specific medical conditions, as per recommendation from your doctor), they are counterproductive in your efforts towards a healthy body and your fat burning success. You want your feet to be free to move the way they were designed to, not limited by stiff, over-engineered fad shoes that promote health benefits, when in reality, limit your range of motion.

Almost all athletic movements start from the feet (by the way, walking is a sport, just in case some of you think that you are not athletes in your training program). Unfortunately, poor foot alignment and posture always leads to damaging changes to the knees, hips, lower back, and sometimes even the shoulders and neck – which means putting a stop to your fat burning progress when injury occurs.

Our body is full of kinetic chains that start from the feet! Wouldn’t you want footwear that allows your feet to move in the range of motion that you need for healthy joints? I certainly do!

Enter the “Nike Free.”
