Excellent Joint Mobility Video featuring my coach Scott Sonnon - never before publicly released footage of Intu-Flow

August 20th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning · Fat Burning Workouts · Fat Loss Product Review · Fat Loss Tips · Fat Loss Training

If you’ve been reading here at FatBurningBlog for awhile, then you have no doubt heard me talk about the amazing benefits of joint mobility training. Just this morning I had the opportunity to spend over an hour with high school soccer athletes (both the boys and girls varsity teams) teaching them joint mobility exercises. Many of the athletes were surprised how difficult the exercises were and how much tension they were carrying in their bodies. By the end of the session, everyone was moving better and it was enjoyed by all.

That’s one of the coolest things about joint mobility training - the instantaneous benefits.

I just found this video on youtube that I thought you would enjoy. This is my coach, Scott Sonnon, explaining the nuances of a proper joint mobility program. This information is priceless and is valuable for anyone whom exercises regularly. This is taken directly from Scott’s home exercise DVD program: Intu-Flow: Moderate, Sustainable Exercise for Pain-Free Health and Longevity.

Scott Sonnon’s Intu-Flow Beginner Part 1

I guarantee that if you apply the principles that Scott outlined in the video, that you will be on the fast-track towards significant progress in your workout routine. If you would like to learn more about Scott Sonnon’s Intu-Flow program, check it out here:

INTU-FLOW Complete Package

I wouldn’t recommend something that I don’t believe 100% in its value.

To your health and success,

Going For Gold - How You Can Learn How To Lose Fat By Developing An Olympic Mindset Like Michael Phelps…

August 15th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning Mindset · Fat Burning Motivation · Fat Loss Product Review · Fat Loss Tips

Howdy,

Last night I was winding-down at my house and watching the Olympic Athletes ‘go for Gold.’

I don’t know about you but I have been watching the Olympic Games any chance I get,

Last night I watched some Women’s Volleyball, Gymnastics, and some swimming…

I just love watching these athletes who are so focused, so determined, and so mentally-invested in achieving the goals that they’ve been working towards for so long…

For example,

Last night United States Swimmer Michael Phelps won yet another Gold Medal…

Today, I was watching the morning news and Michael’s Publicity Agent was being interviewed.

Michael’s Agent said something that really caught my attention and I think it is something that might be able to help you achieve greater success in all areas of your life and I’ll tell you why in a second.

Michael’s Agent was asked "WHY" he was working so hard to win EIGHT Gold Medals.

This is what he said,

"Michael wants to use his performance to revitalize the sport of Swimming Around The World and all of his efforts are geared towards the greater goal of making that happen."

Here’s why that goal struck me…

        IT’S A HUGE GOAL!!!!!

Think about it,

He doesn’t JUST want to win one gold medal, two gold medals, 3, 4, 5, 6, or even 7,

He wants 8!!!

But, not 8 for the sake of ‘JUST’ winning 8 medals,

He’s doing it for an even GREATER GOAL - a huge vision that he is trying to make a reality,

You might be asking yourself, "What does that have to do with me?"

The lesson here for you is that if you want to accomplish great things in your life that you shouldn’t shoot for ‘just losing 11 pounds, or ‘just fitting into the old pair of jeans,’ or "just" anything for that matter…

Create a huge, compelling vision in your mind that is ‘BIGGER THAN JUST YOU.’

Having a huge VISION can help you plow through obstacles and challenges like they are not even there.

Compare that to the average Joe or Jane who ‘just wants to lose a couple pounds.’

Don’t you think that the person with the bigger, more compelling vision that is bigger then just them is going to stick with the plan, stay the course and stay focused on ‘the gold’ instead of giving into temptation and eating that cookie, or skipping a workout?

So the questions for you to consider are:

-How can you create a compelling vision that is bigger than just you?

-How can you Supersize your little goals into more powerful and inspriring goals?

-How would you act differently about food, exercise, and taking care of your body if hitting your goals wasn’t just for you but for a bigger cause that means the world to you?

-What would you do differently everyday to hit your goals if you had that ‘Gun To The Head’ mentallity that you either hit your goals or die?

Perhaps you’d reach your goals faster, making amazing progess that insprired others, and maybe people will be talking about how great ‘YOU’ are and the amazing things you’ve accomplished…

What if?

How To Get ‘Ripped’ Six Pack Abs - Strength Training Tips To Help You Lose Fat And Reveal Washboard Abs…

August 14th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning · Fat Burning Workouts · Fat Loss Diet · Fat Loss Nutrition · Fat Loss Product Review · Fat Loss Tips

If getting ripped abs is on your list of priorities when it comes to your current fitness program, do not overlook the importance of your usual strength training
activities.

One of the biggest misconceptions about getting ripped abs is that you must spend hours doing ab work alone.

Unfortunately this is furthest from the truth,

The real fact of the matter is that when you are lifting heavy during your squats, lunges, deadlifts, and the bench press, you will be using the ab muscles to a great degree.

If they were not working, you would find yourself feeling unstable, and chances are, you would wind up injured.

The ab muscles are going to be called into play with every weight lifting exercise you do, so ensure proper form is being utilized during all workout sessions.

Furthermore, one of the major factors in developing ripped abs, is going to be getting your body fat level low enough for them to be seen clearly.

(this is the key factor)

If you’re not approaching close to single digits, chances are you may have great ab muscles, but you aren’t going to see them when looking in the mirror.

Weight training exercises are one of the best ways to boost your metabolic rate, which will then help you burn off body fat all day long. Do keep in mind though that all weight lifting activities are not created equally.

A heavy set of squats is going to ramp up the metabolism a great deal more than a set of bicep curls would for example.

To utilize this principle, try your best to program your weight lifting routine so that only core, compound lifts are included.

This would be movements such as squats, lunges, deadlifts, bent over rows, shoulder presses, and the bench press.

Not only will this provide you with a far better whole body workout without wasting too much time on needless exercises, but it will also help you achieve that ripped abs look that you are going for.

Lastly, keep in mind that ripped abs and strong abs can mean different things.

If you do a great deal of weighted abdominal work, you may actually cause your ab muscles to grow larger, thus giving you the appearance of a wider waist. Unless the body fat levels are not low again, you’ll just end up looking bigger in the middle, rather than more defined.

So, in order to make this goal a reality for you, first focus on getting low enough body fat levels to get those abs showing.

This can be accomplished through a solid lifting program and a clean diet.

Then, if you are not happy with the shape of the ab muscles or the amount of ab muscle development, start focusing on doing more work focused on just this muscle group itself.

Today’s "How To Get Ripped Abs" tip is from my buddy Vince DelMonte is the author of Your Six Pack Quest found at:

He specializes in helping chubby guys and gals get six pack abs without gimmicks, supplements or dieting.

LL Cool J’s Six Pack Abs - How He Went From 250 Pounds to 212 Pounds of Lean Rapper…

August 13th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning · Fat Burning Mindset · Fat Burning Motivation · Fat Loss Diet · Fat Loss Nutrition · Fat Loss Tips · Fat Loss Training

Howdy,

This morning I woke up at my usual time of 5:45 AM, pounded back a glass of water, and hit the gym for 40 minutes of cardio.

After I got home, I cooked up a yummy veggie Omelet, grabbed a cup of Joe, and sat down to eat my first breakfast and read an article about Rap star LL Cool J and his fitness regimen.

From the article, I learned that LL ballooned up to 250 pounds and at the age of 33 he made a decision to change his life.

He hired a personal trainer, ditched the fried foods, started lifting and doing cardio 5 days per week.

Now, in 2008 LL Cool J has reinvented himnself as a lean rapping machine weighing in at 212 pounds of ripped muscle…

(can you say single-digit body fat?)

LL looks RIPPED in these pictures and is the inevetable result of what happens when you mix desire, a proven plan, and hard work together…

His lean body has revitalized his Rap career and launched him into new and exciting directions as well.

For example, LL recently teamed up with his trainer ‘Scooter’ and Nutritionist Dr. Chris Mohr, to write a fitness book, launched a new clothes line for kids, AND a new supplement company ALL expected to pull in big bucks.

Busy guy ehh?

One thing that struck me about LL’s story was that these amazing changes in his physique and his life is that it ALL started with a DECISION,

A line drawn in the sand,

A decision to not settle with a bulging gut and to go tap into the endless amounts of potential that he knew he left unused…

Have you ever wondered what you were capable of - what un-tapped potential you have within you?

You and I both have so much un-tapped levels of success within us and stories like this one about LL Cool J sure as heck motivate me to do more and BE MORE - how about you?

Tap into the potential that is within you and see what you can become…

Taking Action On What You Learn - An Excerpt From My Interview With Scott Tousignant

August 11th, 2008
· Filed Under: Fat Burning Mindset

By Scott Tousignant, BHK, CFC
www.UnstoppableFatLoss.com

What you are about to read is an excerpt from an interview that my buddy Scott did with me from the MP3 audio program, Unstoppable Fat Loss. If you adopt the mindset that we cover below and apply it to your workouts and nutrition plan, you can expect success and amazing results.

Scott: …Right. I think that the key point is just being aware, like you said. You hear yourself saying these things, and you see that you’re doing them. As you become aware of them, and say what can I do about it? What am I going to do to make me overcome this hurdle, and go in a positive direction this time? What can I do if it is bad genetics, what can I do to overcome my genetics? My family’s overweight. It’s almost like when some people say, ‘I want to be the first one in my family to go to college.’ I’m going to be the first one in my family to be thin for once. Think those thoughts rather than just thinking ‘I’m going to be like everyone else’ and settle for what they’ve had to settle for the rest of their lives. It’s definitely being aware of it, it’s a huge thing. Deciding I’m not going to settle for this, I’ve got to snap out of it and move on.

Kyle: Right. Awareness is such a good thing, and you can come to awareness in a lot of different ways, education. One thing to combat bad genetics, you go and you learn… One seminar that I attended, there was a nutritional genius there, his name was Thomas Inkerdon. A very, very smart guy with a PHD in nutrition, he also competes in strongman events. He’s just a genius. Anyway, he put up a graph during a PowerPoint presentation, and he called it the ‘Pie Graph of Hope’ for people that say they have bad genetics. All the research shows that only about 18% of your overall total results are due to genetics.

And so everything else is totally within your control, and so people that say they have bad genetics, it’s a cop out, and there are so many things that you can do between your diet and your training, your nutrition and your mindset that can totally change your psyche by becoming aware. That one little factoid there might be the awareness that you need to say, ‘You know what, maybe I can change my body, my genetics aren’t going to hold me back.’

Scott: That’s a big deal. I mean, 82% is in your control.

Kyle: Yeah!

Scott: That’s crazy! If you put up excuses for anything, think there’s any obstacle in your way, obviously it’s you.

Wow, that’s pretty remarkable! But that’s a very good point, education, and going to these types of things. If you just pick up that one tidbit of information, whether it’s a book or a conference or audio, one little piece of information can transform your life. That is awesome!

The big thing is, we hear all this stuff… Applying the information is another thing. Educating yourself and reading is good. More than half of the people don’t even get through the entire book, let alone read the entire thing and take action on it.

Do you have any kind of strategy, like when you set aside a certain amount of money to educate yourself. Do you say I’m going to read this chapter and start taking action? Or if you read a book and an idea jumps out at you, are you able to put that book down right now, and even though you know there are going to be some great secrets later on in the book, I want to apply something right now! Do you ever catch yourself doing something like that?

Kyle: I think that’s really solid. I was at a seminar this past weekend in Washington D.C. and down the side of my notes (I take diligent notes while I’m at seminars), and down the right side of my notes, I always put a column and I write ‘Action Items’ at the top of that right column. I’ll write down any notes that come to mind, or key points that I think are helpful when I’m attending these seminars, or listening to a teleseminar like this one, or listening to a presenter talk, or reading a book about training mindset, nutrition, or even business ? whatever it is.

But any time I find something that is a nugget that I can take away and there’s action steps, that will immediately give me better results, I will write that action step down.

By the end of that conference, I’m going to compile all those notes and put those action steps all into my folder, my inbox, and eventually process those and figure out how I’m going to implement those action steps into my daily, weekly, business or training. There’s just so many takeaways. But the key is, if you only educate but you never do anything with that information, you’re not going to make any progress, really.

So Scott hit on a great point: you’ve got to implement it. And so there’s a lot of things that I do. I think habits are a great thing. I train my mindset and I train my body every day, and there’s certain things that I do for my business every day. And so one of the things I always do is, I always start off my day remembering what it is that I want. Most people cannot even tell you what they want. I can say without a shadow of a doubt the top five things that I want out of life right now. By becoming ultra?clear on those things out front and spending a lot of time thinking about what it is that I truly want out of life, I can write those down, and I repeat those to myself every day.

Why? Because it’s programming. It’s the programming that I want. It’s overcoming some of the negative programming that comes at me every day from television, from people in my life that aren’t necessarily sharing the same ideals and goals and values that I have. And they’re there, and they’ll always be there, and so that’s why it’s even more vitally important that you constantly program your mind with calls like this, with audios and hanging out with people that are like?minded and have similar goals and values to you, so that you can stay on track and stay focused. That’s the first thing I do every day; I read to myself, out loud, what my major targets are. And once I’ve read those major targets, I take a look at my day and figure out, OK, what can I do to bring me closer to achieving these major targets today? And I don’t go to bed until I’ve done something to make some progress toward every single one of those.

Scott: That’s right. And it can be small; you don’t have to take big steps every single day. One little action towards it is a big deal.

Kyle: Right. And those little actions add up, you know. That’s the thing most people fail, is they try to do a big action: major diet, major exercise program for the first two weeks of the new year, and then they fall flat on their face because they haven’t overcome their negative programming, their self?image hasn’t changed a bit, and they haven’t done enough work on their mindset and their brain to keep that going. Because determination and willpower are really, really poor ways to try to change anything. That’s the way most people try to do it, and so I totally recommend not trying to will yourself through a diet or training program. I encourage people to study how your brain works and learn how to use your imagination, and imagine the physique that you want, and imagine the life that you want, and then every day try to live up to that imagination, try to live up to that vision that you hold.

Scott: Have fun with it.

Kyle: Yeah, have a lot of fun with it.

Scott: It’s a lot of fun! And the big thing that hits home with me, it’s creating something that’s more than just a wish, and more than just a dream. Even if it is just writing something down that you want, that’s a much bigger step than someone who just says, "I wish I had six?pack abs." If you’re actually writing down, "I want six?pack abs," and you cut out a picture of six?pack abs. And you’re like, "OK, what step can I do today that’s going to bring me closer to six pack abs?" That’s way better than someone going, "Man! I just can’t wait. I really want to have six pack abs."

If you’re just saying to yourself, "I want to have six pack abs,’ it’s just a small part of the puzzle. But, here you are really laying out an action plan, and having fun with it at the same time. Like, actually taking one little step towards it makes it exciting. And if you’re doing those little things that you do, they really add up.

This interview was an excerpt from the MP3 audio interview program, Unstoppable Fat Loss
